- Oh dear, does it really ? I'll have to make a few changes there.
-
- What I was trying to say in my readme was to paraphrase the documentation
- that comes with minixfs. It is supposedly possible to trash the partition, but
- as it stands the distribution applies as many of the 'fool TOS into thinking
- nothing is here' bits of 'minit' as it can. I must say that I have accessed my
- drive under conditions where TOS "should" have corrupted data and nothing
- was lost. Still, I don't advise it. (So I'm paranoid... :-)
-
- Also, (maybe I didn't make this clear), when MiNT/minixfs are running, you can
- run TOS programs to your hearts content. When minixfs isn't loaded, you should
- NOT be able to see anything on the partition. So if you can see the files, you
- should be able to use any method you wish to.
-
- I use zoo to back up my partition (it compresses as well as backs up), then
- a GFA program to split it into 720k chunks. A decent 'cat' program (NOT the
- gnu utils one) will then put it all back together. This has the drawback that
- you have to have enough free space for the intermediate large .zoo file.

-
- On a slightly different note, I've been away for a while, but now, hopefully, I
- can begin to bring the distribution set up to date (gcc 2.2.2 etc.). You might
- all have noted that on a minixfs system, the /tmp directory is not set +sticky
- either.
