- I can't speak for VisiCalc, but if you own a one meg MIO, and if the
- application is not copyprotected, you can use DiskCom to put an image of
- the bootable disk on a ramdisk. Swap the MIO ramdisk to drive 1, and
- reboot.
-
- I kept DiskCom versions of PaperClip, MYDOS, etc. on my SpartaDOS formatted
- harddrive. When I wanted to use one of these non-SpartaDOS compatible
- applications, I simply called a batch file which setup the ramdisk*,
- swapped the ramdisk to drive 1, and rebooted. Coming from the harddrive to
- the ramdisk only took a minute or so (typically less time than booting from
- floppy), and the applications performed all disk accesses like a streak of
- lightning. When I was done, I reset back to the MIO configuration and
- swapped drives to their normal positions.
-
- *NOTE: I ran my MIO constantly from a trickle charged battery. I never
- lost the RAM contents or reset the MIO in two plus years. I kept one
- ramdisk floppy sized to do the above tricks. If you don't keep a floppy
- sized ramdisk at all times, you will have to rebuild (and reload) your MIO
- configuration each time you want to use it for the above.
