- From article <k964404@pro-storm.cts.com>, by bill@pro-storm.cts.com (Bill Long, Sysop):
-
- It seems that the articles about John's DOS 3.3 Launcher keep
- getting further and further away from John's original post where
- he complained that ONLY 2 people had sent in their shareware fee
- ($10 as I remember).
-
- I was shocked by the low number and doubly shocked to think that I
- might be 50% of the world that had sent in the fee so I sent John
- mail asking if my $10 had arrived. The good news is, it had. The
- bad news is, only one other person had sent their fee to him. (If
- you remember John's mail, the other person was an over achiever
- who had sent in $30 because John's program is so cool.)
-
- This confused me based on the level of discussion on piracy that
- goes on here from time to time. I finally came to the conclusion
- that a GREAT number of people were more than willing to send their
- fee, however, they didn't know just how to do it to such a remote
- (to us) place as Australia.
-
- The answer is simple:
-
- 1. Go to your local currency exchange and get a money order for
- $10. This will cost you an additional $.80 or so.
-
- 2. Put the money order and no more than one sheet of paper telling
- John what a great person he is for developing this program into
- an envelope.
-
- 3. Address the envelope "exactly" the way John stated in his
- docs. I know it doesn't make sense for America, however, we
- have to believe the Aussies know what they are doing.
-
- 4. Here you have a choice, you can either go to your local post
- office and have them weigh your letter and pay the $.50 they
- ask, OR simply plop two $.29 stamps on the sucker and eat the
- huge $.08 cost for being lazy.
-
- Remember folks, TINSTAAFL; (There Is No Such Thing As A Free
- Lunch.), you either pay the folks willing to support your computer
- or watch it die. The choice is yours.
-
