- Well, for one thing, dump Prime... it's PD, it's unsupported, the owner
- (Danny Haynes) doesn't have the time to mess with it, it's written in Basic,
- and Basically, it sucks big green ones...
-
- If you absolutely need to get Prime Support, mail afldannyh@aol.com
-
- I would recommend BUYING a BBS Package, such as Metal/FV... Buying a BBS Prog.
- does have it's advantages, such as you usually get great support, updates, and
- you get very helpful, fast response...
-
- I am no represenative of any BBS Package, but I do know that the few BBS progs.
- left are ProLine, Metal/FV, ACOS/GBBS, EBBS, and a few ACOS add-ons, like DDBBS
- and TunaNet, HyperBoard, and the such...
-
- On the other hand, if you run GNO, there are a few BBS progs. being developed
- for it, and Mike Horwath, aka the infamous <grin> Drechsau, is working on a
- project that will let you have all the IBM features, plus the feel of an Apple
- II type BBS... (Multiline, Multiuser, etc..)
-
- Your best bet right now would be Metal/FV... I run it, and I really like it.
- Metal is an easy BBS language, that you don't need to learn to operate the BBS,
- such as ACOS is, and Future Vision (FV) is a very, very developed BBS package
- that comes bundled with Metal... Future Vision is like GBBS, but with additions
- of a 3-level Maintenance Level, a far more developed transfer system than
- SuperTac (MOSES), (Exodus, a PSE transfer system is also available), and a LOT
- more stuff than GBBS.... It also has features of a full Mail/Message networking
- system, with over 40 boards networked, InterNet Mail capability, and very soon,
- it'll also have UseNet capabilities... This is a great package for $95... And
- it is VERY supported... I once had a problem with my copy, and got a phone
- call, yep, It's great support... it's the best $95 I have ever spent on a
- package, and ALL updates are free, no matter how big the update is. You can
- mail me questions, or better yet, mail Josh Thompson, author of Future Vision
- at thompson@umd.umdsun2.umich.edu (?) Tc Wilson, author of Metal, at
- t.captain@bluemoon.rn.com (or t_captain@bluemoon.rn.com)
