- I wonder if any of you can help me.... I have what appears to be
- a clock card for the Apple //. I need to know how to use it. Simple,
- really (I hope). It has a 16 pin DIL plug which (I guess) appears to
- be designed to plug in to the Games I/O connector. The plug has a socket
- on top to enable whatever is normally plugged in the socket to be piggy-
- backed on top of it. This plug/socket is basically a turn-pin DIL socket
- mounted in a PCB instead of a plastic moulding. There are connections on
- the PCB to (assuming I plug it in to the game connector) the 5v, annunciator,
- 0v, and possibly PB2 pins. The PCB has a row of metal connecting strips
- to connect it to the main PCB of the card. The metal strips are bent at
- right angles such that if the plug is plugged in to the game connector,
- the main body of the card will stand vertically. There are, on the main
- body of the card, a few components: a rechargeable battery; a NEC clock/
- calendar chip; about 4 resistors; a diode or two; a 2-pin molex connector,
- like the ones used for speaker connections in the Apple; maybe a capacitor
- (I can't remember - I don't have it with me). Unfortunately I can't find
- any more data on the chip, and I wouldn't know how to set it up to be
- recognised by ProDOS anyway.
-
- So, if any of you recognise what this is, and how it works, and can tell
- me how to use it, it'd be greatly appreciated.
-
- Thanks,
-
- Nick
