- Well, I picked up my 4000 this past week. After getting most of my
- "important" stuff from my 2000 to the 4000 I started playing with
- some software to see how it acted under AGA. I'm using a DblNTSC
- workbench and have mode promotion turned on. I started checking out
- a bunch of software and noticed that _nothing_ was being promoted.
- This upset me a bit, and I started looking for one of those hacks
- that is supposed to open the correct screen for you. THEN it hit
- me! I was running the SwitchNTSC commodity. I was using this
- so screens would open up centered and with the appropriate pen
- colors set to give pre-2.0x screens the 2.0x 3-d look. Apparently
- SwitchNTSC forces NTSC (or PAL) screens open too (so _that's_
- were the name came from). Thus nothing was getting promoted. I
- trashed SwitchNTSC and so far everything I've tried has been promoted
- just fine and I haven't needed one of the screen hacks yet!
-
- So basically this is just a warning. Don't run SwitchNTSC if you are
- using promotion on an AGA machine...
