-
- Yes, both .dms AND .lha files need unpacking. For .lha files, you need a
- copy of LhA, a rather neat little (un)archiver that also handles .lzh
- files. For the .dms files, you need a copy of DMS. If you have bought any
- Amiga mags with coverdisks in the past few months, you may already have
- DMS and/or LhA. For example, the CU Amiga disk with Videoscape3D on it
- contained DMS, as did the Amiga Format Chaos Engine/Legends of Valour disk.
- Off the top of my head I can`t remember exactly where I got LhA from, but it
- was definitely on a coverdisk, possibly an Amiga Computing one from a few
- months back.
-
- Note that .dms files are archives of COMPLETE disks, not files. Therefore
- they require one blank disc to unpack to. .lha archives, on the other hand,
- contain packed files, which can be unpacked onto any disc with enough free
- space.
-
- For both DMS and LhA, you can get on-screen instructions by typing DMS (or
- LhA) without any options.
-
- These are probably very trivial questions but

-
-
- Hey, after a few months, nothing seems trivial on the Amiga. Just give it some
- time and a lot of use, and you`ll soon get the hang of things. The Amiga
- is not a computer to be used, it`s a computer to be experienced. Enjoy!

- I`ve put this reply onto the net as well just in case anyone else is having
- teething troubles with FTP`d files.

- If a job`s worth doing, do it on an Amiga.
