- Dear People.
- ...
- I think there are a lot of misunderstandings about this Hardware Reference
- Manual. There is obvioulsy *NO* doubt that you CANNOT assure compatibility
- when 'hitting' the hardware.
- That does NOT implicate that you MUST NOT KNOW how the custom chips work.
- ...
- I mean, many amiga people i know here in Europe have the Amiga because it's
- GREAT fun to code. It has that great custom chips which make it really nice.
- BUT, they are all hobby coders, that means they code for fun. Not for selling
- their products. 'They show 'em their friends' (ermm... almost)
- And they are not bothered
- if that demo (or what) does not work on amiga 5000 because THEY KNOW THAT|||
- ...
- I don't care if my little piece of coding doesn't work on the next generation
- of amigas because I am NOT selling it|
- New Generation of Amigas coming out? Well, let's code something NEW...
- ...
- Commercial Software, Public Domain Softwate etc MUST be coded using DOS|
- But why shall I buy a thousands of $$ hardware and not beeing allowed to use
- it (in my little home)???
- ( BTW Let's assume The Hardware Reference Manual is not not (sorry) beeing
- released because of any financial matters)
- ...
- Remember the Amiga lived also because of the illegal hardware 'hitting' people.
- If I cannot use the Custom chips so why not buying a PC? (More Power for less
- money ??)
- Now please don't say that the DOS (often) is more efficient than Hardware
- 'Hitting' because I KNOW THAT|
- DOS is likely to be a lot of times more efficient and is surely easier to use.
- BUT, it's less fun. And that's it. I mean... coding is (also) fun. Fun is
- a main part of computing... I mean, you can't play or paint or word process
- all day, can you?
- AMIGAS are mostly (sic) HOME (sic), HOBBY (sic) Machines|
- ...
- Maybe I'm out of date but I know a lot of people thinking like me.
- And I am sure they WOULD sell A LOT of HWR RFRNC MNLS (at least in Europe).
- And I am sure that that WOULD NOT effect COMMERCIAL AND PD SOFTWARE TO BE
- CODED BADLY (Let's assume a certain amount of intelligence among those
- planning to code 'serious' stuff).
- ...
- Ok, hope nobody feeling hurt by this text. Don't try to convince me no Hardware
- Reference would be good for me. I wouldn't beleive it.And forget Hardwired for
- AGA. That WAS hitting HARD|
- Sorry, I just HAD to say it|
- ...
- Thanks, Werner at JK University, Linz.
- ...
- BTW, strange, just when you think life could not possibly get worse (eg. no
- AGA sound improvement) it suddenly does. (eg. no Hardware References)
