- This is pure bull shit based soly on outdated propaganda spewed forth by
- Bush and his generals on TV during the war (Yea, like if it's on TV, hey it
- must be true). If the US had not started the Persian Gulf War then Iraq
- would not have had their entire civilian infrastructure demolished, or as
- some put it, bombed into the stone age. There wouldn't have been half a
- million Iraqis killed during the war. There wouldn't have been 46000+
- children who have died since the war, due to the war, for lack of food,
- water, medicine and electricity. There wouldn't be 5 million+ refugees
- from Iraq which undoubtedly causes instability in the entire region rather
- then the prospect of peace that Bush likes to talk about. There wouldn't
- have been 300+ Americans killed during the war (many of whom were shot by
- Allied fire). There wouldn't be thousands of formerly employed Americans
- returning home to no job (Didn't here that discussed in the debates did
- ya?) Read a couple of books and learn some facts. Kuwait was part of Iraq
- for a lot longer than not. Kuwait also made the first agressive moves into
- the buffer zone. The UN (because of the US) failed to take any action.
- Heck, if Mexico started drilling in Texas I'm sure the US would invade
- Mexico.
-
- As for oil prices, the US can get along just fine without Kuwait oil as it
- has been for a couple years now. As far as that goes the US (like Japan &
- Germany to name two) could also just as easily buy oil from Iraqi-owned
- Kuwait as they could from the dictator-owned Kuwait now.
-
- The closest Sadam came to nulcear weopons is some of the material needed to
- start research to make one, all of which came from the US and was approved
- by the US government. This has already been confermed by UN teams headed
- by ex-US military people. This war does indeed have several things in
- common with Viet Nam: (1) it was a manufactured war, (2) the highest loss
- of life -still counting- was civilian (3) outrageous propaganda was used on
- the home front (a lot this time was paid for by Kuwait) to muster support
- (4) Huge profit for weopon makers (5) American GI's returning home with
- strange deseases that the US government refuses to acknowlegde.
-
- Let's see, Sadam killed roughly 5000 people in Kuwait, Bush killed roughly
- 500,000 people in Iraq and destroyrd their whole civilization. I don't
- really care for Sadam but he looks like a Saint compared to Bush. I was
- hoping for Perot to get elected but anyone (except Quale) would be better
- than Bush. IMNSHO it's about time we got a post WWII guy for president.
- And BTW, myself and many others are tired of all this Conservative
- Republican propaganda bull shit. If you don't know anything about a topic
- then don't try to tell us all about it. And no, I won't appologize for
- using bandwidth on this topic in comp.sys.adv since I was merely answering
- a post that was already here. I could care less whether you flame or not.

-
- The media elected Bush in '88. For some reason they decided to elect
- Clinton in '92. It's easy to see who gets the most over-all air time.
- What's not eay to see is who has control over it. Someone does. Who?
- Bush got it in '88 even though he was initially considered to be a "Wimp"
- by the media which then propelled him into stardom as a "tough guy". Right.
