- Hi there netter's,
- I have just got my self an A1200. A quick machine
- when compaired to my old A500 BUT a lot of software does NOT run on
- it. In order to get more serious use for the A1200 I want to install
- a hard drive to it. I have to choice of two drives
-
- 1) A Microscience Int Crop (model HH-1050)
- or
- 2) An old Seagate ST-238R
-
- My first question has to be ... which, if any, have an
- IDE interface ? I have got a PSU that will do both drives and know a bit
- about electronics so making up cables is not that difficult a task but am
- I asking too much ... Can either of the above be linked to the A1200 (it
- is clamed to have an IDE controler inside) with just a cable ? If this
- is possable could some one E-MAIL me the pin connections ?
-
- Provided the hardware connections go ok ... what has to
- be done to the software to make it "see" the harddisk ? How do I format
- the disk (just like a black floppy) ?
-
- The questions I have put here may seem very simple but
- as I have not got the FULL set of manuals with the computer I have no
- circuit digm to go with ! So a full set of pin-outs for the 40 way IDE
- connector in the computer and the pin-outs on the drives would be a big
- help to solving this problem.
-
- Thanks is advance,
-
- Mark (mckillnm@unix2.tcd.ie)
