- Relax, I'm not going to ask about the 4 Mb "sex and free beer" jumper on
- the 4000 motherboard.
-
- However, I am going to ask about expanding CHIP ram on the 4000 in other
- ways. It has become apparent to me that this machine *really* could use
- a lot more chip ram, since the new display modes are very hungry. It is
- quite easy to eat up a a meg of chip ram with a single screen. I'd like
- at least 4 Mb of chip ram available, and 8 would be nicer.
-
- Even though the Agnus(?) chip is on the 4000 motherboard, would it be
- possible for C= to produce a new version of the CPU module with a new
- "genetically obese Agnus" on it, which supported lots more chip ram and
- effectively ignored the old Agnus on the motherboard? Although I'm not
- a hardware type of person and am woefully ignorant of such matters, I
- don't see why not. It has a full 32 bit data path to the chip memory
- from the processor card. In fact, perhaps they could even put a SIMM
- directly on the CPU card for the new Agnus to talk to. On the other
- hand, maybe there is too much support hardware also on the motherboard
- that couldn't be used if the Agnus was on the CPU card. Or maybe I just
- don't know what I'm talking about at all :-)
-
- Anyway, does such a thing sound possible?
