- That's funny, whenever I read the Compuserve GIF specs, it says
- Lempel-Ziv-Welch compression, not Huffman coding. LZW is the same kind of
- compression used in the UNIX "compress" command. LZH compression is a bit
- tighter (this is the kind used in LHarc and its variants), and it employs a
- kind of Huffman coding, but I am fairly certain GIF files do not use
- Huffman encoding for compression.
