- Here they are for the ppl. who asked me to post them: the specs of the
- retina card. I've tried to translate them from German as accurately as
- possible. Don't flame me if I got something wrong...
-
- RETINA SPECS:
-
- - Card for a2000/3000/4000, zorro-II slot, gold covered connector,
- 4 layers, partly surface mounted.
- - Has its own graphical chip set (controller, RAMDAC, frequency generator)
- not an adaptor for a PC-VGA card (!)
- - Connects to monitor via standard VGA 15-SUB-D connector.
- - Supports AutoConfig(TM)
- - 1, 2 or 4 MB DRAM (ZIP 80 ns or faster) on card
- for 4 MB, use 1MBx4 else 256kx4 fast page mode RAMs
- - Transfer rate: ca. 3.5 MB/sec, uses full capacity of the zorro-II bus
- (0 wait states) pixel frequency up to 90 MHz, transfer rate in own
- ram up to 10 MB/sec
- - Needs: Amiga 2000/3000/4000, monitor with 15-SUB-D VGA connector or adaptor.
- - Resolutions:
- up to 740x600 in 24 bit, 50-70 Hz non-interlaced
- 800x600 in 65000 colours, up to 72 Hz non-interlaced
- 1024x768 in 256 colours, up to 72 Hz non-interlaced
- 1280x1024 in 256 colours, up to 87Hz interlaced or 55Hz non-interlaced
- - Horizontal frequency from 15 to 70 kHz
-
- The price they advertised at the AmiExpo in Cologne was around 700 DM (475 $)
- for the 4MB version (sounds pretty cheap). The person at the boot claimed that
- they were working on a Workbench-emulation and that they already had TVPaint and
- a driver for AdPro2 for the card (an add in the latest amiga magazin says they
- have VDPaint running on it and a driver for ImageMaster too). They were also
- stressing that the WB emulation would be a temporary solution because Commodore
- was working hard on RTG. This is mentioned again in the ad. With the card
- comes a shared library and autodocs so that you can program it yourself.
-
- I think I'll probably buy one for my 3000 once that they have the workbench
- running on it. I don't have the cash to buy a second monitor.
-
- As always, please post any comments, thoughts, ...
