-
- The software is easy to install, it works great, it works great on 2.x and
- 3.x, it works on the 4000, etc.
-
- It *didn't* come with an install utility.
- The manual is *ok* but could be better.
-
- We have two networks in our store running on it.
-
- It allows you to export hard disks, floppies, CD-ROMs (we have one for all
- the machines on the net) and you can import any exported device as any
- name you want.
-
- Things you still need to do...
- Put your import for specific devices on IconX script files.
- Make one to import a device(s) and one to deport it.
- This lets you extend paths (forked paths) to other drives to allow using
- libs and fonts from the other system. That way you don't need to have the libs
- and fonts on all the machines.
- It's a good idea to have a central machine with a large HD to hold extra libs
- commands, etc... for use by all machines. This makes life much easier.
-
- I haven't had any trouble with the software except when someone reboots a
- machine I've imported. This will lock up the software. I can't remember
- if the software automaticly reconnects once the drive is re-exported
- or not. I'll have to check it out. We just make it a point to make sure
- nobody is accessing our machine when we reboot.
-
- I can tell you it's really annoying to have software that doesn't let
- you print to a user specifiable device! Lot of good it does to have
- a network with a laser printer and dot matrix printer exported for our
- use when your word processor can't access it! ARRRRRRGGHHH!!!!
-
-
- If you need a peer-to-peer network, Enlan-DFS works great.
- Now if they will just support all those cheap Arcnet cards we picked up
- used from WordPerfect...
