- I'm on the verge of buying a MIDI sound module. A Roland D-110
- and a Yamaha TX81Z are available to me used. I would be using them
- mostly with DMCS (ugh), and I do mostly medieval and renaissance
- music. I'd like to hear from anyone who has used this hardware
- combination (A1000, if it matters), particularly if you do early
- music. I have a Casio CZ-1 for input, but it's becoming more
- and more cantankerous for output. (And split-keyboard is a very
- stupid and limited way to get voice panning.)
-
- I've been reading through the D-110 manual, and when I finish that
- I'll have more questions for the guy with the TX81Z. There's some
- terminology differences between the Roland and my Casio, and probably
- the Yamaha as well, so there's all that to iron out just to figure
- out what the modules really claim to do. I think they're both
- fairly close by, so I can go hear demos.
-
- Early impressions:
- D-110 may be able to do more voices
- D-110 has more flexible control over voice pan
- TX81Z supports scales other than even temperament
-
- Thanks for any info,
