- This is the readme from 2.0-disks... It covers a lot already.

- New XtraTools
-
- You may want to add one or more of these XtraTools to your Xtra
- Tools directory if you are executing CanDo from a floppy disk drive.
- The CanDo Installer will automatically place these in the proper
- directory for hard disk users.
-
- BookMark Object Tool
- --------------------
-
- Selecting this Object Tool brings up a list of bookmarked scripts.
- A bookmarked script is one "marked" by selecting the BookMark Editor
- Tool icon while editing the script. Such scripts are "remembered" by
- CanDo and appear in this list. This provides you with a quick way to
- edit Menu Item and SubItem scripts, as well as those scripts of some
- objects. Only the bookmarked scripts associated with the current
- CanDo card will be displayed; you will have to edit a card to access a
- bookmarked script for an object on that card.
-
- To select a bookmarked script for editing, just double-click on
- the entry in the list. After editing the script, selecting Cancel in
- the Script Editor will return you to the BookMark Object Tool;
- selecting OK will return you (zap!) to the CanDo Main Panel.
-
- The "Load" Button will load any bookmarks for this deck that were
- previously saved with the "Save" button.
-
- The "Save" Button will save the current set of bookmarks for this
- deck to a file in the Decks: directory. The bookmark filename is
- constructed from the deck name suffixed with ".bm".
-
- The "Clear" Button clears the existing bookmarks for the current
- card. Pressing and holding the SHIFT key down while clicking on the
- "Clear" Button will clear all bookmarks for the deck.
-
- The "Edit" Button brings up the Script Editor for the
- currently-highlighted script.
-
- The "Exit" Button returns you to the CanDo Main Panel.
-
- See also the LastBookMark Object Tool and the BookMark Editor
- Tool.
-
-
- ConfigCanDo Object Tool
- -----------------------
-
- This Object Tool enables you to easily configure CanDo, and allows
- you to make changes to CanDo's configuration while it is running.
-
- CanDo's configuration is divided into categories, shown in the
- list on the left under the word "Groups". Select a group by
- single-clicking on its name in the list. The configuration options
- for that group will appear on the right.
-
- Below the configuration options are the buttons "Save", "Use", and
- "Revert". "Save" saves the currently displayed portion of the
- configuration to where it originally came from, either CanDo's icon,
- "CanDo.defaults" in the directory CanDo started from, or
- "CanDo.defaults" from the S: directory. "Save" also changes CanDo's
- current internal configuration to match your currently displayed
- choices. "Use" just changes the current internal configuration.
- "Revert" restores your settings to those in place when you entered the
- ConfigCanDo Object Tool.
-
- Every configuration option shown corresponds to a CanDo ToolType.
- See the ToolType section in the CanDo Manual Appendices for details.

- DosNotify Object Tool
- ---------------------
-
- Under AmigaDOS 2.0 and later, your CanDo Card can be notified
- when a file or directory is changed. This event can cause the
- DosNotify script to be performed.
-
- To enable this feature, select DosNotify from the XtraTools list.
- The "Editing a DosNotify Object" requester will appear. A default
- Name for the Object can be changed by clicking in the Name field. The
- PathName field contains "Ram:" initially, but change this to the
- pathname or pathandfilename you wish to monitor. The PathName button
- can be clicked on to bring up a file requester to make this easier.
-
- Click on the "Occurred" script button to start the Script Editor.
- Enter the commands you want to execute when the event occurs.
-
- NOTE: Commodore currently only guarantees the operation of its DOS
- notification system for files on a Fast File System volume or RAM:.
- Directory notification may not work as you might expect. Carefully
- test your application to see that DosNotify works for your purposes.
- This will probably change with later versions of AmigaDOS.
-
-
- LastBookMark Object Tool
- ------------------------
-
- Select this Object Tool to immediately edit the most-recently
- edited script that you previously bookmarked. This Tool is very
- useful while debugging a particular script. The Script must first
- be bookmarked with the BookMark Editor Tool.
-
- After editing the script, selecting Cancel in the Script Editor
- will return you to the BookMark Object Tool; selecting OK will return
- you (zap!) to the CanDo Main Panel.
-
- For convenience, you may want to place LastBookMark in the CanDo
- Main Panel Tools Menu (with the MenuTool ToolType; see the CanDo
- manual appendix).
-
-
- ObjectLayer Object Tool
- -----------------------
-
- ObjectLayer is a simple requester showing all the visible (GUI)
- objects in a list. With ObjectLayer, the order of these objects can
- be set to anything you wish. Just use the arrow buttons to move the
- desired object up, down, to the beginning of the list, or to the end
- of the list.
-
- Keep in mind that the objects at the end of the list are
- "uppermost" on your card's window. For example, if you had five
- identical buttons, each one on top of the one before, the one shown at
- the bottom of the ObjectLayer list is the one you will activate when
- you click on the button pile on the window.
-
-
- SuperDuper Object Tool
- ----------------------
-
- The Object SuperDuper duplicates buttons, fields, and proportional
- gadgets according to the positional rules you specify. You can
- quickly create multiple objects aligned by row, column, or both.
-
- On the left side of the Object Tool is a list of objects you can
- duplicate. First select the object you wish to duplicate. Then enter
- the Inter-Object Offset (the distance from the origin of each object
- to the origins of its neighbors) in the X and Y fields provided, or,
- more easily, select "Pick offset off the user window...". Choosing
- this button will enable a box to be drawn on the window showing the
- Inter-Object Offset. Click the left mouse button when you are
- satisfied with the spacing. These offsets can also be negative.
-
- Enter the number of columns you want in the Columns field. This
- number includes the original object as part of the column count, so if
- you enter "3", two more objects will be placed horizontally next to
- the original object according to the Inter-Object X spacing. If the
- number of columns is one and ExpertMode is OFF, the Inter-Object X
- value is ignored; if ExpertMode is ON and the Inter-Object X value is
- non-zero, the objects will be duplicated on a slant according to the X
- value.
-
- Enter the number of rows you want in the Rows field. This number
- includes the original object in the row count, and the objects will
- placed vertically next to the original object according to the
- Inter-Object Y spacing. If the number of rows is one and ExpertMode
- is OFF, the Inter-Object Y value is ignored; if ExpertMode is ON and
- the Inter-Object Y value is non-zero, the objects will be duplicated
- on a slant according to the Y value.
-
- Naming Method: Choose between "Copy_#_of_Object" and "Object_#".
- Each object created will use the naming convention you select, and
- will have a different number in place of "#" in its name. For the
- "Object_#" option, the numbering of matrix (row and column) entries
- where both row and column values are greater than 1, will be in the
- form "_#_#", where the first "#" corresponds to the column number and
- the second "#" represents the row number.
-
- The "Undo" Button undoes ONLY the last Perform executed, and only
- while this window is active. If you exit from this object, you will
- not be able to undo.
-
- Tip: Rename your object so that there is no number in the name of
- the object. Select "Object_#" as the Naming Method. After creating
- your matrix of objects, you can return to the original object and
- rename it to be consistent with the "duped" objects.

- New Editor Tools
-
-
- BugBasher Editor Tool
- ---------------------
-
- BugBasher is simply an icon in the EditorTools bay on the right
- side of the editor. Click on it to perform a thorough syntax analysis
- of your script. Unlike Verify Script, BugBasher will even check for
- inappropriate keywords and missing quotes. Essentially, BugBasher
- will eliminate most of those annoying runtime syntax errors. Just
- click on the "bug" icon to test your script. If an error is found by
- BugBasher, a requester will notify you and the cursor will be placed
- on the line where the error was found.
-
- Note: This more-thorough script checker will take more time than
- Verify Script to perform its task.
-
-
- BookMark Editor Tool
- --------------------
-
- Click on this icon (looks like book pages with a bookmark) to
- "bookmark" this script. This tells CanDo to add this script to its
- bookmark list. No requester will appear. See the BookMark and Last
- BookMark Object Tools above.

- Miscellaneous Neat Stuff
-
-
- Snap-To-Grid
- ------------
-
- The CanDo Snap-To-Grid function is available any time you are
- placing an object on the screen. Press "G" to toggle Snap-To-Grid on
- or off. The default grid spacing is 8; change this with the
- ConfigCanDo Object Tool. To specify an offset, move the pointer to
- the desired location, then press the "S" key. All future grid
- positions will be relative to the selected location.
