- My first comment on seeing today's posts to c.s.a.t was WOAH! While, yes,
- a lot of suggestions may be useful to Acorn for future official versions of
- the filer, we are doing a patch hack without the benefit of 'real' source
- code. I for one want to do the minimum possible to the filer to get the
- results we are looking for.
-
- As far as the development of the project goes - I volunteer to write all the
- filer patch/hack code. Since Andrew mentioned apps, I nominate him to write
- some nice apps ;-) Seriously, if you send me your modified filer Andrew, I
- could start work on integrating/expanding/etc - what do you think ? I don't
- think it is possible for 2 people to work on the same small piece of code -
- not in assembler anyway!
-
- The way I am proposing to do this is to make the minimum possible patches
- to the filer - which then communicate with another module which contains the
- bulk of the code, provided SWI's, *commands, etc.
-
- Re: all the toolsprites/etc. would anyone who does these like to email me
- with them ? I will collect them, and then post them all in one archive to
- Newcastle/etc when we have a reasonable collection.
-
- New idea: Paul Fidler <praf1@uk.ac.cam.phx> suggested ages ago that we should
- write a hack which maintains 2 or 3 sprite pools which are used as the
- Wimp sprite pool depending on whether you are in low, high, or high mono
- modes. When you change mode, you get the correct sprites. I think I will
- put this is the main hack, since it is such an excellent idea! Just the sort
- of thing Acorn might have/should have done ... Of course they probably
- argue that most of their 'educational market' only ever use 1 screen mode,
- and they are probably correct ...
