  13. My A5000 has recently failed to format discs to any of the available
  14. formats, including the "foreign" formats available. The problem
  15. manifests itself when I click on the Format button in the Filer dialogue
  16. box, whereupon the Filer pops up a "Protected disc" error box. I am
  17. using the correct density of disc for the format and have checked that
  18. the write-protect tab is in the write-enable position. I thought I might
  19. have a hardware problem with the drive where it didn't recognise the
  20. position of the write-protect tab correctly, but it will still save
  21. files to and erase files from the floppy, as well as reading correctly.
  22. Can anyone out there throw any light on this? Do I have a software
  23. fault? My hard disc (a 105Mb IDE drive) works fine - mind you, I haven't
  24. tried to format it!
