- Following the spate of questions in this group about compatability
- problems between RISCOS3.1 and certain IDE interfaces and formaters,
- I though just before I strip my machine down and install RISCOS3.1,
- that I'd better check that nothing nasty will happen. I have a
- RISC Developments 89Mb (unformatted, 85Mb formatted) IDE hard disc,
- version no. (I forgot to look this morning, sorry, but it dates to
- last christmas).
-
- Also, I have recently noticed that checkmap is returning a map
- incosistent (sp?) error, and I don't know where the incosistency is.
- Is there any way of finding out which file is under the incosistency,
- and if there is, will deleting it and replacing it with a backup
- cure the problem. I have accidentally deleted stuff from the disc before,
- and used IDEFS_DiscOp to read the stuff into memory, and then writing
- it to a fresh file, so can I do that (assuming that the file has not
- already been overwritten).
-
- B.T.W. I have no way of taking a backup of the whole disc, re-
- formatting it and then re-writing the data, as RISC Developments have
- not seen fit to give us the formatters yet :-(
-
- Yours hopefully
-
