  14.     Following the spate of questions in this group about compatability
  15. problems between RISCOS3.1 and certain IDE interfaces and formaters,
  16. I though just before I strip my machine down and install RISCOS3.1,
  17. that I'd better check that nothing nasty will happen. I have a
  18. RISC Developments 89Mb (unformatted, 85Mb formatted) IDE hard disc,
  19. version no. (I forgot to look this morning, sorry, but it dates to
  20. last christmas).

  22.     Also, I have recently noticed that checkmap is returning a map
  23. incosistent (sp?) error, and I don't know where the incosistency is.
  24. Is there any way of finding out which file is under the incosistency,
  25. and if there is, will deleting it and replacing it with a backup
  26. cure the problem. I have accidentally deleted stuff from the disc before,
  27. and used IDEFS_DiscOp to read the stuff into memory, and then writing
  28. it to a fresh file, so can I do that (assuming that the file has not
  29. already been overwritten).

  31.     B.T.W. I have no way of taking a backup of the whole disc, re-
  32. formatting it and then re-writing the data, as RISC Developments have
  33. not seen fit to give us the formatters yet :-(
