  19. No I haven't, but it certainly sounds interesting.  You are right
  20. about the price, but I'm sure many non-Arc users would be more than
  21. glad to pay 250 quid for such a package.

  27. Minerva's managing director looked distinctly embarrassed when I was,
  28. with great politeness, pointing out some of the deficiencies of the
  29. company and its products.  The conversation was along the lines of we
  30. would desparately love to support our local business in Exeter but
  31. there are one or two things it would be useful for you to know.  She
  32. was very pleased that someone wanted to take the trouble to explain
  33. and was very sympathetic.  To give her credit, Minerva's director
  34. remembered me because I bought one of the first A310s they ever sold
  35. years back.

  37. A few days later I heard from a colleague at the university that he
  38. was going to buy a couple of Arc for a reseach project or something
  39. and had approached Minerva but they gave their usual cool response.
  40. Its sad, we want the local trader to do well but the message doesn't
  41. seem to be getting through.

  43. About producing technical documents though:  Techwriter sounds like a
  44. good bet but that still doesn't solve the problem of graphs.  Graphbox
  45. is fine for business, really not bad at all in fact.  But say I want a
  46. contour plot of a molecular wavefunction I calculated or a false
  47. colour electron density map for a crystal, then there's nothing on the
  48. Arc.

  50. Getting back to the original subject, one slightly tricky point I
  51. discussed with the CC man was dongles.  The new machines all have a
  52. unique machine identity built in.  It seems CC are exploring the
  53. possibility of using this in the future because dongles are so
  54. unpopular.  I thought that was an interesting point.
