- I'd rather not see people panic about this. It is possible for other
- components to fail when the capacitor goes, and thus it is better to
- fix it when the problem's symptoms first appear. So if you know about
- the problem, get it taken care of.

- However _my_ monitor completely failed (no picture at all), and the
- only thing that needed replacing was the capacitor. So if your screen
- has already died, and you're just now asking the net for help, there
- may still be hope.

- I realize that the original poster has not had his monitor fail yet,
- but this is what I see every time someone asks about the monitor
- problem, and I'd hate to discourage anyone who has had a complete
- failure.
