  14.    I'm not sure wether this is the 'correct' newsgroup or not, but I'm at
  15. a loss to find anything more apropriate.  I've discovered a ray-tracing
  16. program which I like a lot - POVRay, or Persistance Of Vision Ray Tracer -
  17. but I have two problems with it :

  19.    1. I only have an Amiga version, which eats memory on my A500, and is
  20. very, very slow to boot.
  21.    This would be tolerable but...
  22.    2. I also run a BBS, so it's down a lot when I get in a ray-tracing
  23. mood. :-(

  25.    This said, I am looking for a version of POVRay to run on a Sun
  26. workstation here at the U of M.  The docs for POVRay say it has been
  27. ported to several different platforms, and describes the major ones
  28. (presumably, the ones they care about destributing) - IBM, Amiga, and Mac.
  29. They mention a Unix version, and they mention in passing that it has been
  30. ported to a Sun (and a Cray! :-).  However, they don't say much about it,
  31. so I'm in the dark as to wether or not a Sun version of POVRay exists.

  33.    If anyone has a yes or no answer to that, please reply.

  35.    Another curious fact is that archie turned up four sites with POVRay -
  36. but they were all in Amiga directories, so that doesn't help me.
  37.  
  38.    If all else fails, I wouldn't mind finding a copy of POVRay for an IBM
  39. machine either, but a Sun executable/source would be preferred.
