- I'm trying to find out which tools exist for the conversion of PCL
- files to PostScript.
-
- In the comp.lang.postscript's FAQ I've seen a few references which
- probably do not satisfy my needs.
-
- One of them is a tool that is said to convert PCL4 to PBM (hp2pbm).
- I presume that this means that (after converting PBM to PostScript)
- a huge PostScript file with a hexadecimal image is created.
- The other tools mentioned seem to implement only a subset of PCL.
-
- To me, not knowing all the details of the PCL language, it seems
- to make more sense to convert PCL primitives (e.g., lines) to
- PostScript functions/operations.
- I don't know about fonts, but I think it should be possible to
- convert PCL fonts to PostScript fonts.
-
- Summary: wanted an intelligent PCL (PCL5, or otherwise PCL4) to
- PostScript conversion tool, if possible supporting all of PCL,
- including downloadable fonts, macros, etc).
-
- Please MAIL suggestions to me, if necessary I'll summarize.
