-
- Here's what he said, verbatim:
-
- 2) You can use this program for free for one week. After that
- trial period, if you wish to use this program, drop me a line.
- I'd like to know who you are, how you're using hebcal, and any
- thing else you'd like to tell me.
-
- I am NOT demanding payment for the use of my program, but writing
- this program DID take time. Feel free to send $10 to
- me at my US Mail address. (hint)
-
- There's obviously some ambiguity here. The statement "You can use this
- for free for one week" certainly carries the strong suggestion that it
- will cost you to use it after that, but then he explictly negates that
- and says that he considers payment purely voluntary. I think he might
- have been using the phrase "for free" in the sense of "without any sort
- of requirement for any action whatsoever" -- not its usual meaning,
- true, but then he's posting to comp.sources.misc, not alt.prose.
-
- It sounds like what he's really after is an email dialogue with people
- who are interested in Hebrew calendars, with a secondary hope for a
- couple of bucks. Doesn't sound that sinister to me.
