- A colleague of mine remembers reading that it was possible to write
- protect an IDE hard disk by writing a value to one of the controller
- registers. This disables writes to the disk and the mode can only
- be undone by booting or power cycling the computer. Anyone have a
- reference or know of where I can find information on this technique?
