  13. I am trying to build email-connection from PC's to Unix with the
  14. following software:

  16.     MS-DOS 5.0 
  17.     Windows 3.1
  18.     LANtastic 4.1 (and for Windows)
  19.     Futurus Team
  20.     MHS version 1.5M (Action Technologies; Nick Systems)
  21.     XGate 1.40 (Dave Frailey)
  22.     SUN sparcserver 690

  24. Has anyone done (or at least tried to do) anything similar to this?
  25. Please lead the horse to knowledge (I am not saying that this horse is
  26. bright so you may have to explain with details...) and I promise that

  29. More information and thoughts:

  31. We have almost 1500 MS-DOS microcomputers in ethernet using LANtastic
  32. (Artisoft) for LAN resources and NCSA Telnet, FTP etc for mainframes
  33. (SUN Unix, VAX VMS).

  35. When people want to use email, they have to remove LANtastic from
  36. memory (batchfiles do it) and then connect into mainframe (batchfiles
  37. do it also). They have to study the operating systems and editors like
  38. Unix, emacs, VMS, eve, ... for email.

  40. I have received Futurus Team (former Right Hand Man by ?) and
  41. MHS-server software (Action Technologies) for testing email into
  42. internet from PC's. I have also received XGATE-software (Dave Frailey)
  43. in order to make a gateway into Unix-world using SMTP.

  45. I have managed to install Futurus Team and MHS-software into our
  46. LANtastic-server and they work fine, but the XGate refuses to be
  47. installed properly: It says that there is 'No Active File Server'.

  49. I know that XGate is for Novell and Charon, but I heard that someone
  50. has done with it a gateway that works.
