  12. I have a problem  with SMC Elite16 cards attached via thicknet to
  13. a Cabletron multiport transceiver.  Using packet drivers and
  14. WATTCP or FTP Software's product, I can ping/telnet/ftp to
  15. other network devices if they are _NOT_ on the same multiport.
  16. I cannot ping/telnet/etc to the Sun workstation or terminal
  17. server that is on the same multiport.  The sympton is that my
  18. PC does not 'see' the traffic from these devices.

  20. I have tried 2 different SMC cards, with both SMC's own packet
  21. driver, and the Crynwyr version 10 driver (for WD8003).  I have
  22. carefully checked out the IRQ and shared memory addresses for
  23. conflicts with other cards in this Gateway 2000 486/33.

  25. Everything works great if I use a Racal NI5210 or Xircom adapter.

  27. Using a sniffer, it appears that maybe the ARP replies from the
  28. devices on the same multiport come back too quickly (3 milliseconds)
  29. for the SMC card to detect (even though it should).
