  14. I am trying to build email-connection from PC's to Unix with the
  15. following software:

  17.     MS-DOS 5.0 
  18.     Windows 3.1
  19.     LANtastic 4.1 (and for Windows)
  20.     Futurus Team
  21.     MHS version 1.5M (Action Technologies; Nick Systems)
  22.     XGate 1.40 (Dave Frailey)
  23.     SUN sparcserver 690

  25. Has anyone done (or at least tried to do) anything similar to this?
  26. Please lead the horse to knowledge (I am not saying that this horse is
  27. bright so you may have to explain with details...) and I promise that

  30. More information and thoughts:

  32. We have almost 1500 MS-DOS microcomputers in ethernet using LANtastic
  33. (Artisoft) for LAN resources and NCSA Telnet, FTP etc for mainframes
  34. (SUN Unix, VAX VMS).

  36. When people want to use email, they have to remove LANtastic from
  37. memory (batchfiles do it) and then connect into mainframe (batchfiles
  38. do it also). They have to study the operating systems and editors like
  39. Unix, emacs, VMS, eve, ... for email.

  41. I have received Futurus Team (former Right Hand Man by ?) and
  42. MHS-server software (Action Technologies) for testing email into
  43. internet from PC's. I have also received XGATE-software (Dave Frailey)
  44. in order to make a gateway into Unix-world using SMTP.

  46. I have managed to install Futurus Team and MHS-software into our
  47. LANtastic-server and they work fine, but the XGate refuses to be
  48. installed properly: It says that there is 'No Active File Server'.

  50. I know that XGate is for Novell and Charon, but I heard that someone
  51. has done with it a gateway that works.
