- We are trying to configure workstations, using SMC cards,
- to use the ODI setup. We have fairly high expectations from
- this setup (or do we?) and would like to use it in the
- following manner:
-
- Logical board #1: IPX
- Logical board #2: IP
-
- We would use the board #1 to connect to our NOVELL file
- severs and we would want to use board #2 to connect to
- our UNIX boxes. In order to connect to the UNIX boxes
- we use PATHWAY's telnet and this works fine. However,
- in general, we use TRUMPET to connect to our news server
- and this obviously requires ODIPKT in order to run it on
- top of the ODI driver. This can be made to work as well.
-
- WHAT'S THE PROBLEM YOU MAY ASK?
-
- Well, we would like to use both PATHWAY and the ODIPKT
- interface without having to re-configure our workstaions
- in between their usage. However, once the PATHWAY kernel,
- pwtcp.exe, has been loaded it seems to lock up logical
- board #2 and therefore the ODIPKT interface doesn't work.
- In order to make it work we must first remove the PATHWAY
- kernel. In a DOS this is not too much of a problem but
- if one is using Windows 3.x then one must load the kernel
- before starting up Windows and therefore while within
- Windows one cannot use the ODIPKT interface.
-
- Could anybody shed some light on this problem for me?
- If so please e-mail me or post to this group.
-
- Thanks in advance,
- Craig.
