- We occasionally see a similar thing - first our environment & then the
- conditions of failure:

- 8 Spark (1, 1+, 2 & 10) pcnfsd servers
- 3 Harris Night Hawk pcnfsd servers
- 50+ PCs w/pc-nfs

- If one of the Harris machines answered the request for authentication, no
- problem (ever). If one of the SUNs answered, then a user would run into
- difficulty (not authenticate) ONLY IF a machine on the sub-net was down.

- For some reason when one of the machines on our sub-net goes down, all SUNs
- will slow down (network timeouts?) to the point that the user authentication
- fails.
