  13. I understand and strongly agree that they are just numbers, but in the
  14. end, people seem to attach much more meaning to their roots than they
  15. should, so OID choices become political.

  17. It turns out that one of the places where we can tolerate political
  18. influences to have some impact is in the choice for these numbers,
  19. especially if it makes other political things easier.

  21. In the case of Internet use, it seems to me that it already is
  22. important for us to get and use a truly international rooted OID, and
  23. to do it as soon as possible to make the choices obvious and easy for
  24. everyone in the Internet community.
