- I understand and strongly agree that they are just numbers, but in the
- end, people seem to attach much more meaning to their roots than they
- should, so OID choices become political.

- It turns out that one of the places where we can tolerate political
- influences to have some impact is in the choice for these numbers,
- especially if it makes other political things easier.

- In the case of Internet use, it seems to me that it already is
- important for us to get and use a truly international rooted OID, and
- to do it as soon as possible to make the choices obvious and easy for
- everyone in the Internet community.
