  25.                      CCITT Recommendations
  26.  
  27.     Up to the IXth CCITT Plenary Assembly (Melbourne, 1988) 
  28. CCITT Recommendations were approved by the Plenary Assemblies 
  29. and were published in the CCITT Book, issued after each Assembly, 
  30. with a different colour every four years. The last CCITT Book 
  31. to be published is the Blue Book (Melbourne, 1988).

  33.     The IXth Plenary Assembly, aware that rapid changes in 
  34. technology and telecommunication services made it desirable to 
  35. introduce an accelerated procedure for the approval of new and 
  36. revised Recommendations between Plenary Assemblies, adopted 
  37. Resolution No. 2, laying down the rules for the approval of new 
  38. or revised Recommendations between Plenary Assemblies.

  40.     A large number of new and revised Recommendations have 
  41. been approved under the procedure described in Resolution No. 2 
  42. during the current study period (1989-1992). Each of those 
  43. Recommendations is published as a separate brochure as soon as 
  44. possible after it has been approved.
