  13. We have a LocalTalk net work which includes several IBM clones using
  14. Farallon LocalTalk cards.
  15. A problem occurs when one of the clones is printing a large print run
  16. (130 pages or so) from dBase IV. If anyone else tries to print to the
  17. same printer (either a LaserWriter IINTX or a Personal LaserWriter NT.
  18. The problem occurs with both) the clone job is aborted, the clone hangs
  19. and will not reboot. When reboot is attempted it gets to the point of
  20. initialising the LocalTalk card and stops.
  21. We have tried switching off at the wall and disconnecting the network
  22. connection but the only solution seems to be to leave the clone switched
  23. off for several hours.
  24. We would like answers to two questions.
  25.   1   Why is the print run aborted?
  26.   2   Why will it not reboot?

  28. The guy who uses the clone is getting a little frustrated and more and
  29. more convinced that all Macs and associated equipment (and even the
  30. operators) should be consigned to the dark side of the moon and a REAL
  31. network that will never give any problems at all should be installed.
