- This Node-to-IP mapping is basic to IPTalk - it is built into CAP as
- well as all the gateways. It can't be changed. What problems do you have
- with it? The Host and Gateway don't have to be in the same "C-Subnet",
- but all hosts on the same subnet must be on the same IPTalk-AppleTalk
- network. Those IP hosts on different networks are by DEFINITION on
- different AppleTalk networks - all you need is an entry in atalktab
- that informs the IPTalk gateways of this fact (and what the AppleTalk
- and IP addresses are). Atalkrd may be required in some cases.

- Yes, we're waiting for the committee on this one :-). The Webster MPG
- (Leigh has some of these) now supports its own version of "IPTalk-2",
- which is different to the solutions that Cayman and Shiva have (to
- the problem of IPTalk/Ip-tunnelling and AppleTalk Phase 2).
-
- I have a version of atalkad available that can read network-range and
- zone-list entries in a modified atalkatab file that has the same
- format that the Shiva FastPath can read. As well, this version of
- atalkad can generate "extended" AA packets that the current version of
- the MPG can understand. Atalkad-2 also responds with zipXReply
- packets for the zone-lists. Thus this version of atalkad with the MPG
- works with network-ranges and zone-lists.

- Another reason is that not all Unix machines can run the EtherTalk
- versions, whereas all can (probably) run the IPTalk one. IPTalk is
- still essential for tunnelling AppleTalk through IP-only gateways.
