  22.                    PARALLEL SOLUTIONS FOR VLSI DESIGN AUTOMATION

  25.     VLSI DESIGN is a new international journal which will be
  26.     published by Gordon and Breach Publishers starting 1993.
  27.     A special issue on "Parallel Solutions for VLSI Design 
  28.         Automation" is being planned for late 1993.  The guest
  29.     editors for the special issue are Dr. C.P. Ravikumar and
  30.     Prof. L.M. Patnaik.  Papers are sought for the special issue, 
  31.         on topics that are related to parallel architectures and/or 
  32.         parallel algorithms for VLSI design automation applications.

  34.         BACKGROUND
  35.  
  36.     Algorithms for VLSI/CAD can be highly compute-intensive
  37.     due to large problem sizes involved.  As a result, 
  38.     a number of attempts have been made in the recent past
  39.     to accelerate CAD tasks through the use of parallel
  40.     and distributed processing.  Some of the design tasks for
  41.     which higher speeds are required are -- VLSI Placement
  42.     and Routing, Circuit Simulation, Logic Simulation, High-level
  43.     Synthesis, Test Generation, and Fault Simulation.
  44.     The special issue will focus on parallel implementations
  45.     of design automation.

  48.         INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

  50.     Submit 5 copies of the manuscript, not exceeding 35 
  51.         double-spaced typed pages including figures and tables, 
  52.         to Dr. C.P. Ravikumar (address given below).  The topics
