- Bullshit Carl!
- The alternative of having a priviliged system is far worse. All this account
- will be able to do is to receive mail and run a batch-job that copies one or
- more specified files to a floppy disk. Where is your problem ? There may be
- dickheads around with nothing better to do than writing forged mail messages
- with fake sender and so on, but all they'll get out of it is a file on a floppy
- disk. I stand by my last line: The solution is quick and dirty _AND_ secure -
- compared to just about anything else. If you have a better or different
- solution then post it. The original poster wanted advice on a problem. Not a
- show off.
-
- And now for the technical content :-)
- Since version 8 of VMS_SHARE now supports _ANY_ RMS file (including
- binaries), you could even let the the mail message contain the entire file in
- VMS_SHARE format. The "Daemon" on the floppy-disk system would then read all
- incoming mail-messages to the PCX account, "unshare" the file-contents and
- write to floppy. [Carl could the send his postings to a write-only floopy :-)
