- You can get AnalyRIM from the DECUS library (VS0024) which is
- a reasonable spreadsheet integrated with a relational DBMS (yet)
- and runs on VMS, Open VMS (alpha VMS), unix, RSX11M / 11D,
- AmigaDos, MSDOS, and probably isn't too hard to port to any reasonable
- other system. It comes with source. If you get the European edition of
- the VAX SIG tapes from the US (there is a European tree, but I know
- little of its details), if you have the Fall 1991 and Spring 1992
- tapes you're pretty nearly up to date. (I got mouse support working
- with DECwindows lately on VAX/VMS and Alpha/VMS; that will be on
- the DECUS alpha CD and the next set of VMS SIG tapes, but hasn't
- gotten out otherwise. Apart from the fancier console mode (mouse
- support and color, that is), it is not functionally different from
- what's on the F91/S92 tapes.
-
- There have been ports of SC for VMS on VAX SIG tapes also in the
- last year or two and there have been some others around.
- There is a DECUS office in Geneva which ought to have some idea
- how to get to DECUS France.
-
- AnalyRIM is not exactly like some other spreadsheets because when
- it was initially spec'd, I had seen less than a total of 5 minutes
- of demos of what any other spreadsheet did, and so did some things
- differently...every cell on the sheet is in effect its own window
- onto the real spreadsheet, something like 9 or 10 different cell
- addressing modes, built in matrix math, every cell separately
- programmable, long integer or floating numbers, multiple equations
- per cell, etc. etc.
- This doesn't make it hard to use, just a little different from
- what you might get from experience with a PC.
