- Marc,
-
- I can understand your problem. Short of some rather clumsy
- maneuvers, PUBLIC Mail can be difficult.
-
- However, I have often solved this type of problem using NEWS.
- Most NEWS systems (we use ANU-NEWS here) provide a mechanism to
- add messages received via Email into a newsgroup. These messages
- are then available to all users who have access to this
- newsgroup. The NEWS system also keeps track of who has seen which
- posting, so that users do not interfere with each other.
- Additionally, the NEWS systems are setup to automatically expire
- items, so maintenance is easier (you may want some newsgroups to
- never automatically expire, which can be done also).
-
- You then modify your standard SYLOGIN.COM to check for messages
- waiting to be read in the NEWS system. Then users will be
- notified of new messages when they login.
-
- I hope that the above is helpful. If I have been unclear, please
- feel free to send me an Email.
