  11. Get Elvis from any of a number of FTP sources.  You will have
  12. to compile Elvis using your favorite C compiler.  Someone
  13. may have a binary version available.  I got the sources from
  14. DEC Corporate Research as described below.  The end result
  15. is a little too big to mail in one piece.  I don't have a
  16. working vax mailer for big stuff like the Elvis .exe file.

  18. Try ftpmail@gatekeeper.dec.com.  Send a mail message with the
  19. word HELP as the body.  ftpmail will return instructions.  The
  20. server has a facility to inquire about a specific program such as
  21. elvis.

  23. Elvis is a good vi impersonation.  We use it over telnet connections
  24. because we have yet to figure out how to get EDT or EVE to work
  25. with strange PC and Sun Type 4 keyboards with much different
  26. function key layouts.

  28. Frequent sightings of elvis are made in our Edison office.  Young
  29. folks raised on UNIX prefer it over the native editors.

  31. You may need your friendly system administrator's help to install
  32. elvis.  You may add the "vi" and "view" commands to your process
  33. command tables using your system login.com script.  We have avoided
  34. putting a lot of stuff of this sort in systartup_v5.com.
