- this has come up before, of course, but i cleverly forgot to save
- things as they came by. what the heck, perhaps things have changed
- somewhat.
-
- i'm looking for experiences that people might have had with
- third-party maintenance in the southern ontario neck of the woods. i
- got my paperwork for the renewal of a service contract on a vaxserver
- 3400 a while back, and at about the same time got a phone call from a
- sales droid for a third-party (keal computer services). i got him to
- give me a quote, and the numbers look pretty good. they are based near
- toronto, however, which puts them a two or three hour drive away.
- (dec, on the other hand, is local and we've dealt with them for a
- decade. sigh.)
-
- to help me in my dithering, does anyone have any experiences they
- could share (horror stories, recommendations, abuse, or whatever)
- about
-
- - third-party maintenance firms operating in this part of the world
- (kingston - midway between montreal, toronto, and ottawa)
- - any obscure methods one could use to coax dec into being "more
- competitive. :-)
-
- thanks in advance.
