- process level recovery : Isis (and other works)
- atomicity of file operations: Cedar, Decorum
- mantaining consistency of copies : Echo, Harp, HA-NFS
- Data reconciliation: Coda, Locus, Ficus
- Speed of FS writes: Sprite LFS, Clio
- debugging, monitoring: Instant Replay, Bugnet, Radar, ...
- optimization of compilers (I have no reference)
