  30. The Cooperative Research Centre for Distributed Systems Technology has 
  31. been established under an Australian Government programme with initial 
  32. Government and industry funding of $A54 million over 7 years.  It will 
  33. develop technologies that will form infrastructure for global 
  34. distributed information systems and services.

  37. The Position:
  38.  
  39. The person employed in this position will be investigating the 
  40. application of encryption for distributed and open systems.  You will be 
  41. responsible for investigating the possible usage of encryption in 
  42. distributed and open systems, determining the required algorithms, and 
  43. designing appropriate protocols for the secure and efficient usage of 
  44. these algorithms.  The research will be conducted as part of a team in 
  45. the Management, Security and Performance Unit of the CRC for Distributed 
  46. Systems Technology's site at the Queensland University of Technology.
  47. Applicants should have a PhD with a strong background in cryptology, 
  48. extensive programming experience and an interest in applying information 
  49. security techniques to distributed systems.  Development or industrial 
  50. experience is advantageous.

  55. The appointment will be for a initial period of 3 years, commencing in 
  56. early 1993.  Salary: $A40,000 - $A50,000 per annum.  For further
