  20. EMX is a free OS/2 developement system. The heart of it is the Gnu C
  21. compiler, GCC. There is also a C++ compiler. The OS/2 end of things
  22. was written by Eberhard Mattes, with contributions by others (such as Kai-Uwe).
  23. EMX-GCC includes alot of support for UNIX style programming, but also
  24. supports most native OS/2 programming features. Future versions will
  25. include more OS/2 specific features, and should make EMX a complete
  26. developement system. EMX programs can even run under MSDOS, using a DOS
  27. extender.

  29. EMX includes the GDB debugger, a solid C library, librarians and linkers
  30. for UNIX and OS/2 libraries and object files. UNIX curses library.

  32. EMX makes things much simpler to port UNIX programs, and lets you do
  33. OS/2 programming. Best of both you might say.

  35. you can get EMX (version 0.8e) on ftp-os2.nmsu.edu in /pub/os2/programming
  36. you need emxdev.zip and gnudev.zip. emxtest.zip contains some good samples.
  37. You might want to get a make program (there are several on ftp-os2).
