  20. You don't need a trick for using IP. In fact, there exists an address type
  21. that supports multicasting to the Internet addressing scheme. This class D
  22. address is built in the following way:

  26. There is a mechanism defined that maps group addresses of IP directly onto
  27. multicast addresses of the ethernet (if your hardware is able to do
  28. multicasting). Implementation issues are addressed in RFC1112, ideas for
  29. distribution of multicast packets across network boundaries are described in
  30. RFC1075. Note, that the service provided by multicast IP is the same best
  31. effort delivery that is offered by conventional IP so you will have to care
  32. about reliable transfer at the application layer.
