- A friend of mine has a 386 with a WD-1007V ESDI controller.
- Whenever there are two drives, either logical or physical the system
- becomes totally unreliable locking up at seemingly random intervals and
- requiring a COLD boot. The original system had OS/2 installed on the ESDI
- drive, drive C:, and DOS 5.0 installed on an IDE configured, under OS/2, as
- D:. Whenever we'd try to xcopy or otherwise perform a lot of I/O to drive
- D: the system would lock up. No prob must be a flaky IDE drive so for
- several months he did fine with just C:. When the service-pak came out he
- decided to take the oppurtunity to partition his drive to C: for OS/2 and
- swap space and Logical D: for applications. Well, the darn thing is
- exhibiting the EXACT same symptoms random lock up when performing almost
- any function, e.g., copy, dir, xcopy, on drive D:! Again, this is with or
- without the service-pak.
- Has anybody experienced anything like this? Does anyone have a
- system reasonably close to the one mentioned, in particular the WD-1007V
- ESDI controller?
-
- Any help/info appreciated!
