- I've seen this too on my clone (ETEQ chipset, 486/33, ISA) with both a
- Tseng and a Trident card - the Tseng was more sensitive. I first saw this
- before I installed OS/2! My Tseng card is an Everex Viewpoint Premium
- (I'm not sure if this effect is part of the "premium" or not!). I had
- colored specks appearing on the Windows desktop. As I moved the mouse
- rapidly I would get lots of specks. I assumed it was timing related, too.
- Everex suggested I change the slot where the video card was plugged. The
- tech support guy said it would work better nearer the power supply!?!
-
- Well, I moved it to the 16-bit slot nearest the power supply - it had
- been in the most distant slot at the end of the bus - and from then on
- the specks went away! The bus must be very noisy or the timing must be
- very ragged for this to occur! I have seen a few specks recently under
- the OS/2 beta. However, it has not been bad enough to worry about, yet...

- By the way, I am running the I/O bus at about 11 MHz in my system, which
- may be part of the problem, too.
