- I was wondering if anyone has been successful at installing Word for
- Windows version 2.0b on a file server using OS/2 2.0. I'm running an
- OS/2 LAN Server LAN with OS/2 2.0 workstations. The install for a
- server version of Word means running setup from a WINOS2 session on a
- workstation, and installing to a network drive. Word is supposed to
- be smart enough to recognize that you are installing to a network
- drive, and presents an options menu for Server or Workstation
- installs. My problem is that I am getting the regular install, and
- the network is not recognized, and the network drive I am installing
- to is thought of as just a virtual drive. Microsoft says to try
- changing the settings in WINOS2 for network, but I've tried them all
- and still Word doesn't think that there is a network there. Any
- suggestions?
-
- By the way, I think it is very interesting that Microsoft has a
- support line dedicated to MS Apps support under OS/2 2.0, considering
- how much they downplay it. However, the final word from them was to
- call IBM.
