- NAN> I am sure there will be a good many number of OS/2 users who are
- totally
- NAN> confused by all the floods of updates. CSD, udpate packages, DLL
- updates
- NAN> etc etc. If IBM wasn't sure of bug fixes, why did they released
- it in the
- NAN> first place? Also, why there is no official notification of
- updates ?
-
- IBM sent many people official notices of an upcoming service pack
- update. They only sent the notices to people who had called tech
- support with problems that had not yet been resolved, however. I
- actually got two notices myself.
-
- NAN> There also seems to be a lack of guidance for novice users like
- myself.
- NAN> I was browsing thru the directories of hobes and found that
- there is a
- NAN> whole dirctory filled with updated and fixes. No who
- NAN> is to tell that which
- NAN> one are for which problem and which ones are really worth
- applying.
-
- If you are not having problems, don't apply any fixes. Wait until the
- next regular update such as OS/2 2.1 which will probably be out in
- December.
-
- NAN> Then there is new CSD. What does it do any way. Every day there
- are a few
- NAN> reports on usenet that problems/performance got worse after
- applying CSD.
- NAN> Now who is to ask about that? What problems does it fix and when
- is it
- NAN> worth applying...????
-
- I've installed the CSD and am not having any problems. But it doesn't
- seem much different for me than the previous release with bug fixes or
- the 2.1 beta, although I do notice that a few bugs have been fixed.
- Most of the bugs I noticed in the original OS/2 2.0 were not much more
- than annoyances or curiosities, although other people had more
- problems with some of them.
