- Item d) was addressed to some extent by the use of "shadows", which have
- some resemblance to symbolic links. Though I still haven't figured out
- enough about SOM programming to know how to access them from the
- filesystem. As for the 8.3 stuff, there's no reason to stick with that
- at all. The BACKUP program supplied with OS/2 will let you back up
- files with long names, as will all the other backup systems I've seen.

- to back up otherwise, relax! I've backed up my xxx.tar.Z files with no
- problems whatsoever.
