- Is there any reason why companies' setup installs to put files in
- system directories? It seems like to me it would be much easier for the
- user if they created a sub-directory, at the very least, off of the system
- directory they are shooting for.
-
- Case in point is Draw for OS/2 by Micrografx, they put a bunch of stuff
- in the os2/dll directory. Now if I want to delete it, I have to know which
- is which. I have created a os2/dll/user_dll directory where I put the
- stuff that I know about or have control over. At least here I only have to
- worry about other apps' files.
-
- Is this trend left over from DOS when the PATH had a limited character
- length or do most UNIX's do this also???
